McKay's Legacy is an academically based safety curriculum with six lessons addressing issues that affect a child's ability to make good decisions in a critical circumstances. The six lessons are:

Bloom's Taxonomy was used to develop the questioning strategies for the student activities. The use of comprehension questions, analogies, and the ability to think in "3's" as a decision making strategy are utilized to help the child learn how to be safe and also to build on good decision making strategies.

The curriculum is formated and in line with the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) and reinforces learning and test taking skills in preparation for the yearly state assessment.
